Tournament Description

Yes, the fairways are cleared for the first nine holes so you can toss a disc through the woods, over the river and through the trails right back to the Blizzard Hills Club House for a cold one.

Nine holes 1-3, 7-9, and 16-18 are ready to go! Three tight piney-woods holes, two Par 4 doglegs, and three throws over water (if you so choose - if you don't, it'll probably cost you a stroke).

While there, make sure that you tell owner, Ward Prindle, just how thankful you are for the donated land and the new course.

The baskets are being set this week and then on May 31st. at 1:00 pm, the force behind the course, Lorie Szyperski and all of her family, course designer Terry Calhoun, volunteers, friends and supportive disc golfers will christen the course.

Welcome Erik Szyperski as the new club moderator, offer him your thanks and any volunteer time you may have to assist with final grooming of the new 9 hole course. And don't forget, when in Pinconning make sure to get a pizza at P.J's . I suggest fresh mushroom, tomato, black olive and onion (the tomato pieces are like quartered tomatoes) yummy !

Here's another article about the course. It has a video of a TV report on it in the right-hand column.

I was kind of thinking the same thing about the course helping his business. Nothing like grabbing some food a drink after a round...

I did see the antique boats, those were quite interesting.

Yeah, Murph, it's a bit creepy, seeing those old, decrepit campus trailers, a couple with people apparently living in them.

The place used to be a marina/campground but business dried up when the water in the marina did. The owner held onto his liquor license and lets a couple of down and out folks live there for cheap.

All the times I have been there, I have not yet seen one of them out and about, though.

Maybe the disc golf course will rejuvenate the guy's business with the bar, and he could clean up the campground and maybe rent out kayaks (there's enough water for that) or something. Did you see the antique boat junkyard on the other side of the tee area for Hole 17?

I took a drive to Blizzard Hills last night and it was great to see the course taking shape. It looks like it is going to be a great course. But is anyone else creeped out by the old campground there?
