Welcome to the inaugural DGLO Championship Series! A3DISC will be holding 6 tournaments this year to raise money to add to the purse of the 2010 Great Lakes Open. Each event will cost $20 to play, $5 of which will be added to the DGLO's payouts. A one time, optional $10 fee will enter players into the series. After the series finals at Lakeshore in July, the top 4 players in each division will compete in a Final 9; the winners will be crowned "2010 Ann Arbor Area Champion". In a unique twist, Advanced players will be competing for cash; however, any player with a PDGA rating over 955 must play Pro, and those close to 950 are encouraged to. Am 2, 3, and 4 players who cash can choose discs from a selection of A3 plastic or may choose to receive gift certificates worth an equivalent value to the Throw Shop instead. These certificates can be saved up through the whole series and spent on something cool at the finals or may be used at the Throw Shop at any time. This first event will be held at BRATS and the Farmhouse on Sunday, January 31, followed by events at Independence Lake, Kensington, Rolling Hills, Hudson Mills and Lakeshore. Registration and players' meeting will be at BRATS. A chili lunch will be provided to anyone who wishes to pitch in $5, and "tasty beverages" will be available for $3. Registration is 8:00 to 9:15 at BRATS. Tee off at 9:30 at BRATS. 2nd round will tee off at approximately 2:00 at the Farmhouse. If we have more than 54 players, Pro and Advanced will tee off the first round at the Farmhouse at 10:00; round two will be at BRATS about 2:00. Lunch, awards and a players' party after the tournament will be at the Farmhouse, 2 miles NW of BRATS. Maps will be provided, but it's a quick, easy drive. Pros will be playing longs all day, while Amateurs will play shorts. We will have two 50/50 CTPs and an ace pool at each event along with other fun and games. Thank you to everyone who joins us for the series this year for helping us to present what we hope will be the best Great Lakes Open in years.
