The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

I thought all disc golfers were in favor of 18 hole courses over anything smaller ??? YOUR VOICE COUNTS - 9 or 18 Hole Course at Bay City State Recreation Area - that is the question

just across the wire - The Friends Of Bay City State Recreation Area RETURN the awarded $7740.00, along with all other donations specific to the dgc project.

NEWS UPDATE - after 4 years of planning 18 holes on 12 acres of the 300 acres available for recreational day use at BCSRA, the design " didn't effectively consider the wetlands and natural inhabitants to the degree necessary for such environmentally important and sensitive land ". Upon the insistance of those paid stewards of our state lands, all of the funds were given back and the four year project for an 18 hole course has essentially been scraped. Disc golfers are not to be discouraged though, in 2013 the BCSRA has committed to explore the possibility for suitable land to accommodate an 9 hole DGC.

please sign this petition to let the disc golfer's voice be heard

Nice !!  Try Sierra Club , The local Rotary club and local businesses. Any Funraiser programs to get players involved also helps !
Which Bay city would this be?

Michigan. Sorry, I often forget that DGRUS is WORLDWIDE since the founders are Michigan based.

here's the link to the group

also visit the facebook page for updates and info

what would it take to sponser a hole?
I will let you know the exact details as soon as the board makes a final decision on just what the hole sponsorship cost will be. Thanks for the question and interest...
Congrats on getting another course in MI! That is awesome!

The disc golf community can help. Click on the link to the petition to read details of the 2011 18 hole disc golf course project at Bay City State Recreation Area that ended with all funds being returned to the donors and granting agency. It could be of great benefit if the petition linked below gets passed around and supported. Although typical flat Bay County terrain, the property is excellent and would have the waters of Lake Huron in view 100% of the time while playing the course and enjoying all that Bay City State Recreation Area has to offer.

Glad to hear more DG coming to my beautiful home state. I'm currently building a disc golf course at Bertha Brock County Park in Ionia, MI. Also, the Ionia State Recreational Area just contacted me and told me that they have grant money to put toward a course at their park in Ionia. So, yeah, go Michigan disc golf! GO!

Bay City canned the idea for an 18 hole course, the money was given back and consideration for a nine hole will be discussed in 2013. sign this petition, if you don't mind.

done and done.

thanks, pass it along, keep it fresh in the minds.

An 18 hole course was coming to Bay City State Recreation Area
