The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf
NEWS UPDATE - after 4 years of planning 18 holes on 12 acres of the 300 acres available for recreational day use at BCSRA, the design " didn't effectively consider the wetlands and natural inhabitants to the degree necessary for such environmentally important and sensitive land ". Upon the insistance of those paid stewards of our state lands, all of the funds were given back and the four year project for an 18 hole course has essentially been scraped. Disc golfers are not to be discouraged though, in 2013 the BCSRA has committed to explore the possibility for suitable land to accommodate an 9 hole DGC.

Bay City State Recreation Area has great land waiting for the right plan and the former Blizzard Hills course in Pinconning has greater possibilities for seeing 18 holes sooner, rather than later. I strongly urge all of you that desire to play DG within our community to get on the phone, send out some emails and stir up the interest, letting those in charge of making decisions that there is a disc golf community and that we do desire a course or two within our counties. BC State Park could have holes playable within a week or less and Blizzard Hills could again be a playable course, whether 18 holes or less, within about 3 or 4 hours of replacing the basket assemblies on the existing poles. I say we all URGE the county (Pinconning Park) to install baskets to allow for temporary play while work progresses on the former Blizzard Hills property. Call the Bay County Board of Commissioners to let them know that baskets are there, poles are in the ground and disc golfers are requesting the opportunity to be involved.
