I am currently installing a DG course at Black Butte Lake for the Army Corps of Engineers. They won't allow me to install concrete tee-boxes for a number of reasons, so I am figuring that I would go with those big rubber matts (like for horse stalls). Then I saw a video this morning ("Tee 7 Cape Henlopen") showing a guy teeing off from a wooden tee platform. While it looks a bit slippery to me, it got me thinking about alternatives to concrete Tee-Boxes. Do you have any thoughts on "alternative" Tee Box materials, and why do you like them? If you do not have concrete boxes on your home course, what do you have and how do you like it?

I just played on a newly redesigned 18 in Blairsville, GA and for the first time played on pea-gravel pads. It had rained pretty well the night and day before and it's located in a pretty mountainous region so will see some tough conditions (well, tough for the south). After 3-4 holes of getting used to it I actually enjoyed them, it kept me light on my feet and turning on my plant foot was easier on the knee that concrete. They were super easy to pat back down like a divot after using and didn't spread out, even by the baskets where there was no box to keep the gravel contained. Hope that helps.
if you did the wooden tee platform i would put something roofing shingles or sandpaper
