1st prize = 40% more than the entry fee?

22 teams. $60/team. $1,320.

1st place- $100 ($50 to each player)

2nd place- $70 (thats $35 to each player)

3rd- $50

4th- $40

Pro/Am BYOP one round in the day one round at night. Players pack = glo aviar/roc, a long sleeve t and sloppy joes. Does this make sense to anyone? Thats about $500 that went where?

Seems like the Payout is not right. How much was Food ? Players Packs ?

Option (A)

$1320 - payout = $1020

$1020 - $792 (going price for cfr glo $18) = $228

$228 - $220 ($5 shirt) = $8

$8 left for Sloppy Joe

Option (B)

$1320 - payout = $1020

$1020 - $528 (cheap plastic Glo $12) = $492

$492 - $440 ($10 shirts) = $52

$52 left for Sloppy Joe

Now I know the TD got the Glo disc for less and maybe the shirts also, Plus throw in any sponsorship money... I would say this was a bad payout. But I just wanted to show how he probably looked at it.

Another way to look at it is

$60 - $20 for 2 discs - $20 for 2 shirts - $10 for 2 sloppy joes means $10 of your entry fee went to payouts.  First place got ten times their entry fee in payout.  A disc a shirt and a sloppy joe is an enormous players pack for a $30 entry fee.  That's the problem with big player packs that aren't sponser driven is they cut drastically into the payouts.  Last place is happy but first is disappointed.

Exactly.  Players pay $30 each, get almost $30 (at retail) in players packs.  Hard to complain about that deal; they're virtually playing for free.  The payout looks pretty good to me.

the dx glo plastic is $10 retail value max(this is 3 or 4 $ vendor) The t-shirts can't cost more than $7/. Dinner cost less than $1/person unless you pay the cook. That's a $10-15 worth of stuff no one wanted in the first place.

In all cases, the value to consider is retail, not the TD's cost.  That's the value the players are getting.  What the TD pays, or whether he pays at all, has no bearing.  If they're getting stuff they don't want, that's another issue.

DX Glo MSRP is a little more than $10.  If the shirts are custom stamps and any quality, fair retail is probably about $10.  Don't know what the meal included, but it's hard to imagine it being worth less than $5.

Now, I'm one who doesn't care for players packs and would rather it all go into prizes, for the "stuff no one wanted" reason you cite.    Especially if the payout is mostly players packs.  But as for total payout, this looks fine to me.

In part because I'm also one who thinks players should pay $20 for a tournament, any tournament, before any payout begins.  We pay to participate in other sports and activities; we should be willing to pay for someone to organize disc golf events for us.

You can or the TD can always Raise the Entry Fee or Eliminate the players pack.
You can Offer Lunch from a local Deli for like $ 5.00 or so. Also you could offer Fundraiser Disc's from your Tournament and have some of the money raised , added to the Pro purse.
