The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf
Just for sh*ts and giggles.
I have heard many people's prediction of what will happen 12/21/12.
Everyone has their beliefs and everyone has plans for this date.
The end of the World ?
Global Killing Asteroid ?
Winter Solstice ?
Return of GOD ?
Return of the Ancient Gods ?
Polar shifting ?
Final phases of Global Warming ?
Solar Storms ?
Planetary Alignments ?
Final War to end it all ?
There is an official web site for this it is..............
Check it out.
The Millinum prophacy was a bust and disappointment.
As for me. Realistically, I doubt that anything will happen.
Life will go on as usual.
Yes, I believe in something, but I have no proof.
So this is attempt to get everyone's point of view and your plans.
Let the heavy disc ussion begin.
I'm still planning on stopping by the truck stop for $12.12 of gas on pump 12 but I'm not sure if I will be able to do it at exactly 12:12. I am working today so unless I am in the vicinity at that time I will just have to settle for doing it sometime today.
Only get 12 gallons of gas!
I predict the sun will come up on 12/22/12, and most of us will enjoy a round of disc golf.
Given the fact of what happened today up North, Our prayers goes to the
victims and their families.
It is human nature. When faced with impending doom (which a lot of people believe),
or the unknown, Humans tend to react negatively.
Mass Murder, Mass suicides, and other acts of violence will be coming in
the near future. I believe that the closer we get to 12/21/12,
there will more and more CHAOS coming out of the wood works.
That's funny Jamie.
Here is an English version.
But it ll reads the same.
What kind of doomsday prepper are you? there are no discs in the picture above!
"What kind of doomsday prepper are you?"
I am not a "prepper".
I am not a "horder".
I am just a man who finds this whole situation interesting.
I was just interested in reading everyone's interpretation
of what may happen.
My Innova Disc Golf 2013 calendar arrived yesterday.
Screw the Mayans!
Ok. This is my last post on this subject.
I had copied and pasted two articles.
For those that believe something bad will happen,
You should embrace the ones you care for and tell them that
you love them. And get ready to wake up and be disappointed.
Why live life in fear ?
Why let the worries of the future ruin your present ?
Tomorrow never comes.
Think about it, when will tomrrow come ?
At midnight tonight ?
When it does, it is no longer toomrrow, it becomes today.
So you will never truely see tomrrow.
Continue living your life.
Make decisions you will not regret later.
Because when you wake up on Saturday,
You will realize that you are amoung the billions of people
on this earth, that have survived yet another day.
Here are the articles.
How Mayan calendar works and why 12-21 doomsday won't happen (Video)
If you know how the Mayan calendar works, you will realize that Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 is not doomsday, according to a Dec. 19 CBS News report. Many people mistakenly believe that the Mayan calendar ends on Dec. 21, 2012, but that is not the case.
How the Mayan calendar works is that the civilization was simply counting the days, and they used three calendars to do so. Their daunting looking calendar was based on the solar year, which is much different than the calendar used today.
Walter Witschey, an archaeologist and Maya expert at Longwood University in Virginia said,
"That's somewhat different from our own calendar, which is really tied to the length of the solar year."
The three calendars were the Tzolk'in, the Haab', and the Long Count Calendar. The Tzolk'in was 260 days, and it was used to mark religious ceremonies. The Haab' lasted 365 days, but it did not account for leap year like modern calendars do. Finally, the Long Count Calendar is the one that ends on Dec. 21, 2012, but that does not mean that that date will be the Mayan apocalypse.
The Long Count Calendar features dates written with five numbers separated by four periods. These numbers are the k'in, the uinal, the tun, the k'atuns, and the b'ak'tun. Basically, these counted periods of time that equaled rough months, years, decades, and centuries. On 12/21/12, the Long Count Mayan Calendar will read 22.214.171.124.0. 13 b'ak'tuns represented a full cycle of creation to the ancient Mayans. According to Witschey,
As for what will happen in the world on Dec. 21, 2012, Witschey said,
"You'll get up in the morning and go forward, and the Maya cycles will have clicked over another day."
That is exactly what happens every day isn't it

12 Reasons the World Won’t End in 2012
1. The Mayan calendar doesn’t really end.
If you’ve paid attention to any of the 2012 doomsday scenarios, you’ve probably heard most frequently that the Mayans predicted it. That’s not really accurate — there are no real predictions involved. The idea comes from one of the calendars created by this ancient civilization. They had a bunch of them, and they’re all pretty complicated.
One is called the Long Count Calendar and it allows them to record 1,872,000 consecutive individual days. Yes, it’s a beast of a calendar. It lasts 5,125 years, a length of time known as the Great Cycle. A handful of researchers have determined that the calendar probably began somewhere around August 11, 3114 BC. Guess when the cycle comes to an end? December 21, 2012. Or maybe December 23, 2012. Or maybe in August of that year. (There are some disputes about this.)
But the date of the 21st seems especially doomsday-worthy because it coincides with the winter solstice, so the calendar conclusion has gotten everyone excited. But here’s a question: When your page-a-day calendar gets to December 31, do you automatically assume that there will be no January 1? That everything you’ve ever known and loved will disappear?!? No, you don’t. Because calendars are cyclical. They flip over and start again.
Well, humor takes over and we all become better disc golf players.Since I'm working till 8pm that night,I'll have to play glow.
