The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

I came up with this about a year ago and got to thinking about it this morning. If we all followed these 3 key things I think we'd have some more SOLID rounds and play all around better golf.

KEY 1 - Know what you throw, throw what you know... ( I know that sounds like the Sphinx from Mystery Men) but think about it, so many times we're in the middle of a tournament round, faced with a situation we didn't expect to be in, and we decide to try that disc we haven't thrown all day or that sidearm upside down grenade in a hole shot we've only practiced once before. Make it a habit to get to know your plastic. Know what it's gonna do every time. This key is used mainly on drives, and some approach shots.

KEY 2 - Keep It Smooth Stupid - This is in regards to your midrange. The old acronym KISS - When you step up to take that 100 FT approach practice your throw a couple times and plan to release it on the line you've just practiced. Don't hesistate. Have confidence you can put the disc right where you want every time. Remember the key is to keep is smooth!

KEY 3 - Take your time, EVERY time - This is in regards to putting. So many times we get up to our 15 FT putt and think, "I've got this, all day!" and then what do you know? DOINK off the top rim, or we end up short, right or left. If we only established a routine, and stuck to that routine every time how much more consistent would we be? Rather than rushing try this next time. Make sure you go through with your routine EVERY time, don't rush it!

I believe if we practied these 3 KEY things they could unlock (silly pun) a new level of our disc golf game. It may also shave some wasted strokes off that score card too.

What are your guys' thoughts on this? Not like I'm gonna patent pend these but I think they're pretty solid.

(Side note - Like I said it's been a year since I thought of these and the 2nd one isn't my original, I just can't think of it right now. So I'll get back to you if I remember it. Shows how important they are to me right. HA! So I just made that one up like 10 seconds ago...)

I just want to add "KEEP SMILING" discgolf is a pleasure, not a torture !
Key 3 is the most important, in my opinion.

It isn't about who makes the most good shots, but the least bad shots..
sounds good
I could not agree more with your keys.
