League tonight was doubles and the best player drew Cali and then also paid in the extra five bucks. That gave him two shots on every shot and he used it to his advantage. Not only did he shoot the course record for doubles of 18 down but he also hit an ace. That of course means that he parred one hole. And I was told that his birdie putt hit the basket on that one as well. Simply amazing round. Now someone would have to shoot nineteen down in order to beat the record. I believe this one is going to stand for a while.

DAMN!

Going to have to try and set the course up a little bit harder this week. I don't believe that we have enough land to really make it much of a challenge for him. He has a huge arm. A lot of people who play league are afraid to come out anymore when he shows up, but I am not one of them because I enjoy playing no matter what. I have gotten paired up with him on at least two occasions this year and both times we won. So a lot of the time you are just hoping to get him as a partner. And on top of all that it was quite windy yesterday. I kind of wish that I had been in his group last night so that I could have seen it go down. Just checked out his player rating on the PDGA website. It is 1003.

Ive always found playing against better players makes me a better player. Congrats on the course record to whoever it is.
2 shots on every shot ! That's a very odd way to play Cali IMO . I would assume that if you gave most people 2 shots on every shot they would be more likely to win a league than a dubs team.
I bought in one time as Cali and I did not win. I enjoyed doing it but it will also tire you out faster. You still need a lot of talent to shoot 18 down. The course has been set up quite a bit harder now and on Monday the winning score was only 7 down. Some have won with the buy-in option while others have not. It is random anyway.
How come you don't do the normal (at least to me ) Cali of one extra shot per hole ? This is the first time I have ever heard of someone getting to throw 2 from every lie. I would volunteer to be Cali everytime !

We play that way here..... but only in the snow, we call it winter cali. And once you are inside of 30 you only get one putt unless you didn't use your cali shot prior to that putt.

That is just the way it has been played here for as long as I can remember. I guess that it is a way to get $5 more into the pot. Another guy paid the $5 a few days later but failed to produce and we even gave him three strokes. And the guy who won that day with 18 down said that he really only used his second shot on maybe one occasion. He is just that good.

Now Monday I ran league and the best score for doubles was only 7 down. Seems that the course got set up a bit harder. We need to keep it that way so that league is a real test. I also don't believe that the guy who shot 18 down won on Monday. He might have come in second (with a partner) but I don't remember.

OK, so tonight there was no Cali but the same player drew another good player (B.C. Donny Olow knows) and they shot fifteen down while missing a birdie on one of the easiest holes of the course. Of course said player (Jordan) hit another ace, this time one about 400 ft. long and down a small hill and in some trees. Huge hyzer bomb. Wow!
