Always Remember

I can remember this day like it was just yesterday. A few of us were huddled around a small television when we saw the first tower collapse. I was sleeping in my van at that point in my life yet I was still very lucky.

 

Don't forget those who lost their lives and don't forget to hug your kids and tell them that you love them. To all of the people who lost someone, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Once upon a time we lived in New Jersey,roughly 40 miles away from "The City" as we always called New York.Left after '76 to explore other places.Home is always where you grew up,but home is also where you now make one's life to live.The City that never slept,many early am's you could catch the train,ride into NY and enjoy yourself.All the  5 different boroughs were like day/night.The Towers went up/during our time away,but the skyline of that great City  always drew one back to visit or stay.

An alumni of mine was @ The Pentagon on 9/11,Navy officer.He was fortunate to walk away with burns,broken arm,scars,memories.He NEVER FORGETS.

Another alumni was in one of the Towers,not as fortunate..NEVER FORGET

Flew into NewarkAirport,before the name change, one month after 9/11 for my dad's funeral.The smoke was still rising from the ruins.same day funerals were by chance,down the block from each other.School buses were needed to bring in all the people for the alumni fellow.This town is only one mile square,but neighbors are scattered all over the state{s}.Losing my dad was difficult,but it's very difficult losing that many people in one day to cowardly acts against innocent citizens.

We all lost someone/peace of mind on 9-11..NEVER FORGET...U. S. A.

I remember that day.

Many lost everything,

Everyone lost something.

America Changed that day, and

so did it's people.

 

No matter what people believe as to the reason for the 9/11 act,

No one can argue the fact that American lives were wasted that day.

Just like the POW/MIAs, never forget the fallen.

I thought maybe that I would avoid watching some of the TV coverage but instead I was drawn to the memorial service that they had at the new 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero. Hearing people speak who lost loved ones brought tears to my eyes. I remember it like it was just yesterday. So much loss and I will never forget. I feel very emotionally drained tonight as I prepare to go to bed. When I went to work someone said that it looked like I stayed up all night. And my boss who came here from New York told me that she cried for three days when it happened because she had two friends that worked in the buildings and couldn't get a hold of them. They turned out to be OK but it just goes to show the magnitude of this event.

It is a day that I will never forget and it still brings me back even ten years later. God Bless!
