The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

If you really need to think about every step used in a power backhand, here's the breakdown:

determine shot by making the following considerations
-terrain, footing, approach and follow-though room
-distance, elevation, obstacle clearance, wind
-your talent level
-the discs you have available
-the exact approach, speed, release angle and follow-through that will be performed
before you start the approach, have all of this already done
if you change your mind about anything, step back and re-consider everything. don't change any of this as you throw, with the possible exception of release force
approach at 90 degrees
practice wrist flex
visualize target
practice arm swing
practice arm and hip swing
calculate approx force and visualize release
calculate placement of power step on pad or mark line
think about foot steps needed to hit the mark
HAPPY TIME (close your eyes take a deep breath and super relax, become one with the throw)
practice relaxed arm swing and eye the target
start approach with small steps in synch with arm swings
follow the motions of the disc with the left hand about 18 inches from this point until the snap
swing disc around on right side as you begin the x-step
swing disc back all the way turning the head and leaning the body
begin cocking the wrist back for release
the end of extend and lean occurs with the plant of the x-step
tighten up the arm muscles but keep the wrist cocked and as loose as possible
start pushing off on the power foot
start the throw out slowly by keeping the arm straight and drag it along with the right hip
turn the head along with the hips and shoulders
keep the disc close to the body in line with the wrist twist and as linear as possible
land the pivot foot allowing the body weight the shift along the flight path line
at the end of the hip twist, use the shoulder to accelerate the disc
spin around on the pivot foot slowly throughout the throw
snap the wrist at the very end of the throw
follow through all the way, rotating the extended arm so the thumb first points down and then to the rear as the palm faces up at the end of the follow through
the left arm also follows through so it wraps around the right side
simple, right?
any suggestions?
