I am a bagger. I carry a backpack to work. And a discgolf bag when I go out disc golfing. I even use bags when I go to the store and buy groceries. I use little bags when I make a sandwich.
Bagger, or Sandbagger is someone who plays in a devision that is clearly below their level usually just to take 1st place. Everyone says bump to have the guy bumped into the higher division. There have many many times someone just played a great round and everyone called him a sand bagger... That can just be rude.
It's almost a right of passage in the game. As you start doing well or maybe even winning a few tournament, you are bound to get called a bagger. The idea is to gently (although doesn't seeem so) make the person aware that his skill level may have outgrown thier current division.
Of course if they don't move up on thier own, thier PDGA ratings will catch up with them and they will be forced up.
I played in a tourney a while back where the person that won am 4 could have beaten more than half the people in am 2. If I remember correctly he would have cashed in am 2 as well. Beat everyone in am 4 by I think it was 12 shots.
I played a tourny a month or so ago,in intermediate I took 3rd,1st and 2nd where from out of town 2nd plays advance at home (not gonna cal him a sandbagger for dropping on a course he has never played)1st place plays open at home. Now that is true sandbagging IMO.
I saw a tourney at my home course. I did not register in time where a guy in advanced shot 3 1000 rated rounds and a 995 rated round. he won by like 14 shots or so. He would of T1 in pro. He is a good player. He then the next week at the same course same layout and everything at a smaller tourney shot like 930- 940 rated rounds and finished like 7th.
In jest it's kind of funny, but like every one has said. If you play below your division level just so you can win. That's a true bagger or imo a wuss afraid of the challenge.
Im rated 921 and play int. and get called a sand bagger but i play to my rating and only won one am2 tourney does that make my a bagger heck no it means i play to my rating and place where i should .
most players that call bagger in am2 are ones that shouldn't be playing am2 at all i played a guy how got so mad that i was playing am2 and he was only rated 830 and dreambagging
1. Generally, any golfer who misleads others about his ability level, claiming to be worse than he actually is at golf.

2. More specifically, a golfer who artificially inflates his handicap index in order to better his chances of winning tournaments or bets.

But without solid evidence, its a very rude thing to call somebody; it can hardly be said in jest.
There are very few actual baggers in disc golf. Some players play hot and cold, win in their division one week and come in near last the next. I played 975 golf in kentucky one weekend and 875 golf in Ann Arbor the next. When you think someone is a bagger, look up their stats.

Also, unless you think the entire Duke basketball team is a bunch of baggers, a good advanced player is never a bagger. If a good amateur wants to stay amateur for any reason, I don't think there is any sport that forces its good amateurs to go pro. Either the money is there or it isn't. In disc golf, it isn't.
I got called a bagger playing juniors but im still under 16. Its alot of times people just messin with you. I got 15 people saying bagger and one thumbs up.
yeah i got the same things said to me when i won the Jr. Div. here in Oklahoma at the 3 park throw down, but im only 16,
