I've seen them used as a bbg and once as a crib for someones baby,After I aced the hole and woke the kid up I said you might want to movE your kid. LOL
Fountain Hills, AZ
A group was using a basket as a barbecue (a whole chicken hanging from the chains).
I illustrated this to remind disc golfers it is our job to promote our sport and educate our local communities.

I too have seen a family BBQing chicken in a basket! It was at Beserkly many years ago. IF you think about it, they make pretty good cooking contraptions. Line the bottom with tin foil, add charcoal and suspend your chicken from the chains. You could probably even control temps by how much and where you place your coals, then spin the chains around as needed. Sad to say, but I can totally see how somebody could make such a mistake when seeing a basket for the first time. LOL
I've never seen anyone using a basket to BBQ, but my dad robbed some parts from his BBQ grill to make a basket.

p.s. I love the Illustrations
Yes it's been a while....I have seen Chicken in the chains...lmao!!!
I saw the chicken thing 25 yrs ago in Coconut Grove Fl. That was fixed before the tournament but during the event we had people picnicing in the middle of the course , dogs picking up discs and running away .One pissed on my bag so I smacked it in the side with a forehand roller. Some people wanted to start a fight because we were intruding in their football game ect..ect.. Miami can be a bit much !
I did find greasy tin foil inside a basket once..
and saw one with bread hanging off it like a bird-feeder?? wth people
Neighbors from Michigan thought my backyard basket was a bird feeder.
West Palm Beach dg course,3 baskets were being used as a BBQ pit.
I've heard this story several times over the years. At first I believed it but then I became skeptical. It reminded me of the old "yeah, i know this guy that was at a bachelor party in vegas and one of his buddies woke up in a bathtub full of ice--with an incision where his kidney used to be. . . . .". However, it seems a lot of you guys have really experienced the chicken in the chains. I stand corrected.
The Chicken in the chains is not a myth... : )
