Here are the discs I would recomend for an adult start with:
Distance Driver: Innova Valkyrie
Fairway Driver: Lat 64 River and/or Innova Tee Bird matter of choice I have and like both.
Midrange: Innova DX Roc
Putter: Gateway Super stupid soft wizard.

As for putters, I find that a stable or understable putter works best for me. I use an APX swirl. Once I got away from the overstable putters (Rhyno, Wizard, Challenger etc...) My putting improved greatly. You have to get over this stigma of "my discs turnover" due to stability or lack there of. Playing in a windy area I've found it's not the discs, but the technique used. Sure there is a line were you do need stability, but you don't really need it in a putter used just for putting.
P.S. All the above discs that I've mentioned, are still in my bag.

Permalink Reply by Rescue on December 28, 2010 at 11:37pm Minus the Striker. That is my primary set for tight courses. I also carry a Nuke, Katana and a Flow (not sure if I need it, pretty close to the Katana). A 150 class Flick and Firebird for spike hyzers and escape shots and a Z Drone for windy days (all for windy days).
I don't know how the APX compares to the Magic? Of all the discs out there, putters are a personel thing. They have to have the right feel, grip and flight. I went through just about every putter out there before I fell in love with the APX. A safe putter to check out would be the basic Aviar. There's a reason it's the #1 putter, but that might be a good start?

Permalink Reply by Rescue on December 29, 2010 at 12:34am Oh no worries! For me the Striker is a tweener disc. It's longer than my fairway discs, but shorter than my primary drivers. But it's one of the best control drivers/fairway drivers I've ever had. The problem is when to use it. It's almost become a specialty disc.
Some stable to understable putters that I can think of are the : Aviar (not the BB), Magnet, APX, Voodoo, ratller (For you Mr. Ellis!), but it's what feels good in your hand. For me the APX swirl. Is thinner than the Aviar and is more tacky, but still rigid.
