I practice on a DGA M-14. It isn't the nicest basket on the market, but it does the job. I've gotten used to hitting center pole because if I don't I'm more likely to spit out or cut through than on a course basket. I know you aren't worried about portability, but my basket has gone all over to show beginners how to play and as a practice pin at our local course.
I have the Pacific Outdoors from Amazon for $81.35 (I think it was 100 shipped). It works, has been in my yard since Christmas with no bad effects, I would like to add an inner set of chains but haven't yet. I figure if you can putt on this basket and make it stick then you should have no problems on the course. It also comes with a set of discs, and the putter flies surprisingly straight.
