Blisters... Bad Grip? Driving too much?

So i've been working on my backhand, using the grip Feldberg shows in his clip on YouTube, and I'm getting blisters on the pad of my pointer finger... I have been throwing a lot of drives a day, so i didn't know if it was just that i was throwing too much, or if i'm missing something on my grip. Also i noticed that Nate Doss tapes that spot on his finger... So is this a common problem?

the only blister i get is on the pad right after the knuckle on my middle finger . when i throw with the control grip for 150-200 foot shots i gets iritated and will bleed i will have to consider tape.

Agreed. When I started that is the only grip I used. Then I found out about the power grip and used that for EVERY shot. Now that I am getting more advanced in this awesome game, I have adapted new grips for certain shots. When I use the control grip (power grip with the middle finger somewhat extended) the rim of the disc and the inside of my middle finger rub and I start to get a blister. Thats how it was when I first started and if you can tough it out day after day, you will build a callus and wont need tape! If it bleeds I would suggest to tape that spot.

With time you will build up a callous, but yes it's common.

Got to bump this one and thank Tony for starting this topic. I just got back from 2 hours of driving practice out at the local field and was wondering the same thing and what people did to fix or help the problem. I'm slowly building up a callous but I still get them. I'm going to try medical tape to see if that feels weird at all.

I shoot RHBH and I most often notice a little blister in the direct middle of my pointer finger, so don't feel alone. I also have an unusual amount of snap for a newer player which I consider a good thing. I think it it just from the friction needed to really spin a disc up to high speeds.

If you are just learning backhand I would lighten up on a super fast and super overstable plastic since it is easier to get similar distance results using good lines when shooting backhand. Many people recommend an XD as the first backhand disc you learn but a Roc would also be a good choice, or a Leopard.

I haven't had this problem since I started playing. There have been times when my fingers got a little tender, but were fine the next day. I've heard from some people that you're not throwing/gripping right if your fingers don't get sore after throwing drives in a field all day. From what I understand, the snap sound that you hear when someone throws is the disc ripping from your grip. If you're not hearing that then you're letting go of the disc instead of centrifugal force ripping it from your fingers. This is what I understood from someone who has been throwing a long time.
