Bowling Green Ams

I just looked at some of the pics from the Bowling Green event on the PDGA site. It says this is one of the oldest events in PDGA history. Claimed to be the Daytona 500 of Disc Golf. I was a little confused about some of the Pictures. From my interpretation of the rule book Atier events require shirts with a collar, or cool-dri type shirts. Like Nike, Huk lab, asics, and Under Armor produces. Its nice to see in the biggest oldest event that the TD's and Players didn't have enough respect for the game to follow one of the easiest rules in the book, but that's just my take.

Well my friend and club mate Blaine "THE HURRICANE" Kinkle won the ADV OPEN division at BG AM's and he wore a collared shirt!!!! Way to go BLaine!!!

No required dress code for A, B or C tier events unless specified by the TD. Check section 3.4 in the Competition Manual.

I do. Our club bought polos so a good number of the tournament players (some at BG AMs) have them. People just throw that out as a reason as why they "hate" the PDGA. BTW, I was in your group at BG AMs last year at Lover's Lane. ; )

I sat in on the meeting that made it come true, and gave my 2 cents about not wanting this rule but I don't always win.

According to Blaine's Rating info. he got $77.00 for playing pro in Jan 2009 I thought this was a Am tournament, did he turn down the cash???, Also noticed there was a guy playing with a 1004 rating...whats up with that, thats a pretty high rating for an Am.

First off, a big Congratulations to Blaine! Well done!

So does anybody have any insight on why they didn't payout 50% of each division and why the payouts were so lame for anyone that didn't win? I was in the top 3rd of my division and didn't get anything...I didn't mind, cause I played like crap and didn't deserve anything, but I know MANY people were angry about the payout. I think they gave 1 disc to alot of people and it was one that was already in the player's packs.

Also, it was shady how the PDGA arranged the pools by rating, which left the F pool with too few people with ratings to base round ratings off of. We played White on Friday afternoon and it was cool and WINDY. (as many of you know, it's always a little windy there) The other Rec pool played on Sunday morning and it was NICE out, didn't get very windy until later in the day, and the PDGA is basing the F pools round ratings on the E pool's scores. This isn't the best way of doing things to give accurate, fair results to their members. They should have distributed enough rated players into each pool to ensure that someone who paid for a membership to play in that tournament didn't get robbed of an accurate beginning to their player rating...however low it may be.

One year we got 40, with near the same for winds, and driving rain. (wet tees). By the time the next pool teed off it was 60's, sunny, dry, calm.

Mark, everyone knows BG is windy, but It WAS completely different playing conditions between friday at 2pm and Sunday at 8am and at White, that makes a difference.

I believe his name is Dave Gentry, from the PDGA, that told me that they arranged the pools according to the ratings, and also that pool F didn't have round ratings yet because they needed more rated players' scores from those courses for a propagator to establish preliminary round ratings.

I am just curious to see if anyone knows the answers. I had a great time and I love that my wife and mom both played well. I just would like to find some answers. It seemed wrong, like it could've been done much more fairly, but I could be wrong...I am going by information that I was told by tournament officials in Bowling Green.
