carefull on the ice

i broke my leg yesterday. one thing that may have helped is screws in the bottom of my boots. any other tips besides,don't play on ice?

That sucks stevo.. I'm sorry to hear about you leg and I hope it heals quickly.. It's something about rolling hills and begining of the season injurys I've been out for a couple of them.

There is an art to learning how to fall. But on some angles and situations you are screwed. Then you can only develop the ability to heal quickly.

Because my sidearm driving form, bent over and low to the ground, I fall every time my plant foot slips out. So pretty regularly in snow or ice or mud. I have found that once the plant foot goes, it does no good to try to recover my balance. So at that point I do two things: save the shot by continuing to follow through and continuing the follow through into a roll so I may get muddy but won't get hurt.

I slipped on ice yesterday and slid on my rear all the way down the sledding hill into a deep puddle. I hate ICE!!!!!!!! My brother said it was hilarious though!!! :)

The only things I could recommend besides screws is either play a seasonal tee off to one side, or in front or back of the pad where the footing is safer. If this is not possible and you want to go out and play you could carry some ice melt or sand with you for the icy areas or go before you play and hit the pads with some of the same stuff so that when you arrive to the pad the ice melt or sand has had some time to work and add some additional traction. Take care of that leg and get better soon. I feel your pain I played in a walking cast (big plastic boot) for about a year after a bad accident. I couldn't help but find a way to get back out there. Of course for the rest of the winter I would say you should keep yourself in the recliner.

and then today I went ahead of my two fellow players to show them the safe path down the hill. 6 steps proved that it was safe. The 7th and I was on my back. My chair flew 12 feet behind me and I was lucky not to break anything.
I'm a good one for falling on and injuring fingers.
