Circles, squares... triangles?

I know birdies are circled and bogeys are squared on scorecards. What about double bogeys and aces? How do you do it?

Sorry, but no circling of birdies for me. A circle is often used to indicate a penalty stroke, say for an OB throw. So a triple circle 8 is called a snowman in a bullseye. You don't want that.

Depending on who it is we'll use a circle for OB...most of the time it is just straight up scores with no doodling.

No shapes, I just write the number scored only.
If there is a provisional then I would write both in until resolved.

No shapes. This comes from ball golf where good enough players have only a few other than pars in their rounds. I get so few pars in ball golf that I underline them so they stand out from all my "others." Writing in "P" in the box indicates a penalty stroke for whatever violation nowadays. Lots of people still circle birdies though. Not needed.

Only on the West Coast...on the East Coast, a circle is a penalty (two or three accordingly).
I don't care what the card looks like as long as the scores are correct.
The correct score in the box including your penalty strokes...a number please.
An ace is indicated by the number one...do you really need another symbol for this?
Drop the symbols and use numbers so you limit mistakes.
Numbers are easy to identify and add.
Save the Circles, squares and triangles for the Graphics!
Only the correct score is needed in the box according to PDGA guidelines.
Any extra marks are for reference so you can remember, after the round, where all those extra strokes came from!!!

Yeah, it's pretty common to circle penalties....


As far as all the extra art work....a triple circle Snowman is worth something. Bragging rights for somebody!! ; )
