Well I got my first ace yesterday after playing on and off for about 8 years. I hear they come in bunches after the first one. I hit the ace with a first run CE Spider and am going to be retiring this disc from competition and don't have another one to replace it with. Can anybody offer up a comparison on the performance of those CE Spiders vs. the Spiders made in current plastic, either champion or star?

Don't retire it and get on ebay or where ever to get a back up. I still have mine and about 5 backups but I have gone to a first run Cro for shots where I might lose the spider or I need a little more stability. I never retire a disc that has gotten me an ace, lighting can strike twice in the same place. :)
Congrates and Wow, 8 years!! ...that's a long dry spell...it was at least 2 before I got my first. It's true they seem come in bunches...I seem to hit them in pairs...within a couple of weeks. Twice I've had them in the same round, once back to back. Your next could be right around the corner.

Can't help you with the spider though...other then the Champ is likely more stable then the Star and the Champ will hold it's flight characteristics longer.
Congrats on the ACE! I've been playing for about 4 years and only have one myself. I haven't used a Star one yet but love my champ Spider for 'touch' shots and approaches outside 130 feet, but it does have a touch more fade than what the ratings suggest (mine's a 167g).
Star is suckish. I have both. I use to use the Star Spider for H2o shots. It's the same old story with Star plastic. Starts of overstable (more than the Champ plastic) Then when it breaks in. It goes more understable than the champ stuff. Just not my cup of tea, but people have been saying. That the Star plastic has been feeling diff as of late.
I like the CE Spiders !!!
