Permalink Reply by Disc-O Golf on October 15, 2011 at 10:14am Yes, work on your core strength...sit-ups, crunches, knee lifts, planks, etc.
For me, I really do not "Condition" as everyone is stating.
For me, i like to mentally condition myself for the game.
Prior to playing in a tourny, I walk the course or courses depending on 18 or 36 holes.
I envision each hole, and plan out my routes and types of discs to use in each situation.
To me, mentally preparing one's self is more important then being physically conditioned.
My body knows what to do ie. Muscle Memory. So I plan then I do.
One thing that I found on accident, is jogging a short distance right before I start the round. I figured this out when I was at the wrong hole for a tourney, had to quickly jog 150 yards to the right hole. Thinking it would kill my game I was a little angry at the guy who failed to tell me I wasn't on the right hole untill the 2 min warning. Ended up playing great and jumped 6 spots to make cash. So now I try to jog to my hole before the start.
P90x is my plan over the winter. Two weeks into it so far. Can't wait to show off the before and after pics lol.
As for specific DG training, it's all about that resistance band we discussed in another post. It really does wonders for my flexibility and arm strength, although my throwing arm is getting noticably bigger than the other... time to work out both sides i guess!
