The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

So I got a somewhat friend I disc a lot with and we both got new tags for this season. We go out to play and he never wanted to play me for tags when his was 16 and mine was 40 something. I think 4 or 5 rounds we played and he always had an excuse not to play for tags: only got a few disc, don't got the right bag, it just rained. I think I beat him soundly each round.

Fast forward three weeks or so, he's been out at the course most days I was but never played with anyone with tags. I now have tag 3 and him 40 something. So guess who wants to play now.....

So he calls me up right before I planned on taking my daughter and dog out. I end up playing with him and another guy. Of course he wants to play for tags now and I tell him " nah don't wanna play for tags but I will with other guy" he says" what you afraid" I say "no thought I'd be like you and not play you for it"
Am I wrong for treating him like he did me??

If you have a Bag Tag , you should always play for it when asked.
Cut the deal to include the right of rematches.

The reason you got a numbered tag was for the challenge process. It is good for your game to be tested under pressure. So accept his challenge-and anybody else's too-just make it clear it comes with the agreement to always accept the challenge in the future-no weak excuses.

Then do your best to own him. You should have plenty of incentive.
I would have said pretty much the same thing and then let him stew over it. Then I'd play him, but I would then him know. No more run and hide B.S.
This is the same guy that always brings up playing for money(most times 2-5 bucks) then proceeds to lose and not pay up.
We still played for one of the other tags we both now have. Today was more of a show him he's a punk and next time yeah he's goin down!!
Our Tag challenge is set up where you have 2 weeks to answer the challenge or you have to give up the tag. We also post the tag challenge league on discgolfscene so everyone can see who is sitting on a low tag. I take any challengers, and usually lose so I don't keep low tags for long. But I like the competition so if someone wants to come looking when I have a low tag and hide when they have the low one that's fine, I'll just get better so he never takes my tag. Other than that if he is REALLY being a punk about it I just wouldn't play him.
your club should have some sort of rules to what a "reasonable challenge " must be. If not, screw it, its just a tag!
Here is our set of Bag Tag Rules :

Less of a club thing and more of a personal thing with senior dodger. Any other time we all play for tags freely. This guy just need some lessons on how not to be a dodging, never paying up, never paying for gas when goin to tourneys, all around douche bag.
I wouldn't play with him anymore till he pays up.
Hmmm..Heck I wouldn't even call him a "somewhat friend"
