The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

What qualities and features do you look for in a bag? I am helping design a unique and new style of disc golf bags that is in the prototype stages. It is a shoulder-sling style. The weight is offset from the shoulder and back, to the center of the body. It will be endorsed by a chiropractor (pending) and have additional and highly customizable features to be included. Please tell me what you look for and why in a disc golf bag. List what you look for first to last if you can thank you!

Personally for me its:

1.)Disc Capacity
2.)Durability of materials and stiching

3.)Comfort and Wear

4.)Water/Drink Storage Capacity

5.)Non-Disc Storage Capacity

6.)Layout and organization of bag/straps

7.)Customization

8.)Weight of Bag

9.)D-Rings and other attachments for towels, chairs, etc
10.) Unique Design and Look

Post what your top 10 qualities and features for a bag are.

Currently here is the bag where it stands in its prototype phase. It has a water bottle holder on the bottom (Is going to be moved and placed elsewhere.) As i said, this bag is still in need of a lot of improvements. Right now I have 15 discs in the bag from bottom up: 3 drivers in 1st pocket, 3 drivers in 2nd pocket, 2 fairways and 1 driver in 3rd pocket, 2 mid ranges in 4th pocket, 2 putters in 5th pocket, and 2 mids in the 6th (Note the mid in the 6th pocket includes a scorpion) The straps are 2" wide with option of wearing it either on your Left shoulder or Right shoulder. The water bottle holder itself also holds a 1L Naglegene or 32 oz water bottle

I like the idea of new designs, but this is just too far outside the box for me. I don't like to have my discs exposed, and how do you set it down at the tee pad? I've seen a "sleeved" bag similar to your pic's, called a Wallaby Bag . See link - http://www.discndatonline.com/item.cfm?itemid=35496

The best design on the market today is "Golf Mahal" by Mystery Ranch in my opinion. It has plenty of disc storage, has extra room for other stuff, compresses if you don't want to carry a lot of stuff, yoke support is easy on the back. The down side is that it is very expensive.

Again, I appreciate new designs but function, price, and weight are my primary concerns.

My opinion is old school, but honest.

PS - I just bought a VooDoo-Mojo and find it to be fantastic.

Good luck with your endeavor, you may be on to something. It certainly is different.

Looks a lot like like a hip/leg bag sold by Gotta Go Gotta Throw. I think it held about 10 discs. Having it on your shoulder is a new twist.

There was a "Throw and Go " waist bag,Tommovations was the company's name.perhaps back in the mid 80-90's.

Where do I put water, mini, rain coat, long sleeve shirt, beer, wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses, hat, towels, flash light, baseball, other mini...

Keep working at it my friend, there will always be room for improvements for bags. Looks like an excellent concept

I think that is what I was trying to remember!

we are continuously working hard on the designs and the feedback for you all really helps. There is a water bottle pouch on the bottom of the bag but that is going to be modified. I have been taking extensive notes from people who comment on it and so far things are looking good. I am positive that a higher end design that will fit more needs of you the player will absolutely enjoy. This is still a 2 month old project that needs more dedicated people like myself to gain support of the local club, then on the regional to national level where a finished design with different options will be offered to you and others.

balancing the water storage is one key to having a balanced bag

im working on that as well storage for you tournament junkies :)

i certainly am as this design has a lot of potential...that is why i took my time out to meet the owner when i first saw this design. I cannot wait to see it finished and ready for the consumers :)

also as you walk antying that bounces back and forth will ad extra force making the bag feel heavier.

just something to think about i cant wait to see the finnnished product

so far nothing bounces back and forth next to a camp stool i clipped on. The plastis is nice and snug as well as the drinks. But yes more modifications will be done and who knows it may be available soon for your uses kevin!
