The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Sheila and I are engaged in the very early stages of planning for a fully-integrated DGRUS Flymart. What we are looking at is a functionality that would let any member of the network offer up items for sale in a smooth-looking storefront. Anyone could buy from the flymart, whether a member of the network or not. Sellers would be responsible for fulfillment. Money transactions would be handled transparently by an extremely highly-respected third party. Members could put mini-storefronts on their "My Bag" pages or on any other social network page where such applications can be dropped in, such as Facebook or MySpace. We would want fees for transactions to be a good deal, too, definitely less costly than eBay.

Reaction? Thoughts? Among other things, do you prefer a minimum transaction fee of a set dollar amount, or some percentage? Fixed, or sliding?

Great idea!
I would love to set up a Pure Disc Golf storefront on my homepage. It wasn't cost effective to setup on Ebay. This would be a nice alternative. I think we get more discgolfer traffic on this site anyway. Please let me know of any information or how I can help out. Thanks

i think this is a killer idea and like pure discs said, i think it would help promote dgrus on the 3rd party sites..... let me know when you get this stuff setup!!
A % fee contingent on sale would be awesome.

If you follow through with this, you'll crush every other disc golf site on the planet. The solar system, even.
Thanks for the feedback so far. It sounds like we're moving along a good path.

Pure Disc: I don't know if we would be able to brand the widget on your page as "Your Store," at least at first. But I think we are aiming at being able to ensure that wherever you drop in a version of the DGRUS Flymart, the items which appear first as available are yours and identified as such. Many people on here may want, then, to create two identities - one for their personal experience and one for their store.

Bruce, et al.: Nice to hear that you think this is a good idea.
Sounds like competition for Ebay...
The company we are working with is a "stealth startup" out of San Francisco, and we will be one of their very first stores, so we'll have some extra input into how they develop, although it will also be more work for Sheila and I. OTOH, we could not develop anything like this functionality on our own. Maybe some minimal "classified" stuff, but nothing like this.

We will not have "bidding" as a function, so it's not direct head to head with eBay in that way, but I agree that this will work best if folks who now use eBay find it useful to use our flymart for some of what they do now there.

If you use eBay (I do not.), please tell us how this store could be better in ways you would find helpful.

sounds like a great concept....keep it comin' Terry!
I know if I was selling something, I wouldn't mind a littel fee going to this great site. I sell and trade on discaroo and its not forthe money, its to get my dyes out there and for people to be able to enjoy their sport more. I have added the shipping cost into the disc but most discs I have up, still come out cheaper than if they were store bought. I would love tohave an option like that on here!
Terry, that really sounds lika a good deal. It would even be nice to make it a little easier to donate a % or flat rate per item to people like EDGE & others. I know you can do this on ebay but it not so easy for $20.00 -$30.00 sales & ebays minimum donation. 1 or 2 dollars per sale to a seperate account would also add up over time. Who knows ? Sounds like you are on the right track ,thanks for all the hard work.
How about a break down of DRGUS support levelsI'm having trouble finding this info.
Terry a store idea is sweet!
The store needs to have a search engine so people can find what they are looking for.

It would be nice if the seller was prompted to input Manufacturer, Weight, Color, Stamp, Plastic Type, Mold and Miscellaneous, so that listings would be complete and uniform. And make the inputs not mandatory because some things won't fit that template.
