Disc dyeing help (can't stop the bleeding!!!)

I've been trying to dye discs lately using sign vinyl as a template but it seems that every time i get very bad bleeding. when i dye a disc i usually use star plastic or champion/z plastic and it's always a new disc,( no cuts or burrs) and i always make sure to squidgy the bubbles out and i'm using rit dye in a pan on low heat. is this crappy vinyl with bad adhesive? if anyone one out there has any suggestions as to what i might be doing wrong or could point me in the direction of some proven high quality vinyl that would be greatly appreciated.

Im not a big fan of the sign vinyl, I just use the adheasive contact paper from walmart.

Make sure you press the edges of your design down very, very well.

Then.... DO IT AGAIN!

About heat I get the dye warm were it just starts to get a bit of steam then shut the stove off, so it doesnt get to hot.

While were on the subject, I've been thinking of trying a few dye's myself and have watched videos and read "how to's" but I still havn't found the answer to this.

How much dye do you use in the warm water? Just a little shake like your salting food or half a small box, a whole box?

Oh and does it ruin the pan? Don't wanna piss off the wife ya know, If i need to buy my own pans I will.

I use 4 cups of water to 1 32g box of dye, and just store the dye in a container for next time.
I bought the Mrs HH new pans and use the old one for just dying.

And you use a dab of acetone to wipe the stamp off correct?

And the best plastic to use is the clear or dark champion and star or similar plastics?

i just got a pan @ goodwill for like $1. it's stainless, the dye has little effect on the pan but i just use it for dyeing.

yes for the acetone ... I find champion good for doing sillouette type images. Star for different colors.

There is a set of video's on here that show the process of dying. Yeah..they don't tell you how much dye to use but their tips on vinyl and squeegees is something I learned from the video. They're dying a "Scarface" design

Yea, those exact videos are what inspired me to wanna give it a shot. Looks so easy!

i watched the same videos, hence the frustration when my recent dye jobs bled so badly. i'm pretty sure my vinyl isn't sticking well. i'm gonna try some different products. thanks for the help guys.

Make sure to get all the bubbles out from under the vinyl then that prob should stop

i'm a beginner too,but i cut my design on the disc after the vinyl has been applied. dye strong and then recover in a sealed container. dyes are toxic,don't put food in after.
