The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

On Tuesday the Chico CA City Council voted to remove the course from Bidwell Park. The course has been there for 20 years. It was installed before the land was a part of the park. The land was owned by B.L.M. then bought by the city of Chico and added to Bidwell Park. What do you think?

Land is so valuable in California that it is hard to replace a course. There are some real steals on vacant property in Detroit. Let's move the course there.
then we'd need to add a holster or two on our disc golf bags...for as many rounds as you would need to carry it would probably weigh you down enough to be done after nine.

Nah....not that heavy...1 Glock 34 fully loaded (18 rounds) with 4 other Hi cap mags (17 rounds each)...and a backup 380 with two extra mags....all loaded with Golden Sabers....very manageable...lmao!!
Another blow to the state that started it all and has been falling behind!

Did they vote to remove the course for the heck of it, or to build a jogging path for some whiny local citizens.
Have they listed why the course is getting pulled? Must be a reason, if its land value then its greed, but generally they have other reasons....
hmm, environmental damage.......
But I bet the same city allows big businesses to clear-cut forest and install acre sized paved parking lots, just around the corner from that park?
That sucks! It took the city council 20 years to decide this? Sounds like the decision was based more on greed than anything else.
The driving force behind this is purely political influence. A very small group of enviro-whackos (many of whom do not even liive in our fair city) have been pushing for this for years - including multpile threats of lawsuits being brought against the city if they (the Friends of Bidwell Park) don't get their way. Well, after so many years, and so much money ($650K in enviro studies if you can believe that) it looks like they got their way!
It sucks to lose any course regardless of the reason......what really sucks is they spent that kind of money in those studies to show that there is some slight enviro impact from a Disc Golf course. way to go super geniuses!!!
their was a thread about this with more details started by Senior......entitled.....

Save Disc Golf in Upper Park....
