The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

As I was at the Worlds this year in KC I realized that I have had the pleasure of playing, learning and competing against most of the players in the HOF. I can count many of them as family and I am allowed to heckle at will (thats the best part!)

Please post your stories of these players.

Here is the set of shots I did for the Induction cermony of Lynn Warren, Crazy John, and Mike Sullivan.

We are friends with Speedy, who is in charge of the Disc Golf Hall of Fame Discs. (He is 5th from Right).
We have a section in the Collector Discs area just for the "Hall of Fame" Discs.
Some are signed because we stood in line at the induction to get the famous signatures on the discs!
In this picture it looks like Greg is going to play the keyboards and everyone is going to sing....
The tune................................"We are the World"
Well I get to play a David Greenwell designed course on a daily basis. I have played with Him and Dr.Rick and Sylvia a time or two. There is always something to learn when you play with these HOF'ers.
I had the pleasure of helping David set up and offer input as an AM player before the first tournament(and USDGC Qualifier) at his World class Lebanon course in Ky. Afterward Dave, myself and Mick Pennington(local Pro) went to the tourism office in town and spoke directly with the people in this small town who put up huge amounts of money, not only for the course but also the tournament. The only thing in Lebanon that anyone would even know is Makers Mark Bourbon. Otherwise this is a hobunk little town in central Ky. Anyhow we spent about an hour talking and than went and played a warm up round with these people. Pretty cool to say the least!!
Most every course within 100 miles of Louisville Ky David has either designed or been involved in the design. So I have had the pleasure of playing many of his designs. Most are pretty cool. Some are kinda hard and others easy. He covers all parts of the game in his designs!
Some Legends in those photos !!!
lol @ the bald spot
From left to right: Stancil Johnson (PDGA 9), Mark Horn, Sam Ferrans (1984 Open World Champ age 16), Marty Hapner, Snapper Pierson, Jim Palmeri, Ted Smethers, Sylvia & Rick Voakes, CK, Gregg Hosfeld, Elaine King, Snap Conger, David Greenwell, Ken Climo, Brian Hoeniger (at mike), Speedy, Patti Kunkle (1st Master Woman Champ 1988), Lavone Wolfe, Rick Rothstein, Juliana Korver. Check out Hall of Famers Snapper Pierson and Mike "Snap" Conger 30 years ago in 1979: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwG9psXsOMs Pretty cool that most of these Hall of Famers were still playing in Worlds and the ones who weren't were helping run the event.
hey now, sounds like Kasey Kassum(sp) as narrator.
It is.
hey now,old school throwing with Whamo, nice.
David Greenwell and I will be throwing "new school" Super Class discs including some Wham-O fastbacks at the upcoming Super Class Nationals Aug 29-30 at the Lemon Lake complex near Chicago. No Casey as commentator though...
hey now, thanks for the info, will try to get out that way.I think Kasey just retired from his radio gig.
I have had this video on Beta tape for so long - It’s funny to see these now - Scott Z, Randy Lahm and I were all in high school at that time (rival ultimate teams) and this is how I remember Scott.

Capt'n my Capt'n - My very first competitive round of golf in 1979 was with Mr Conger...and I am still trying to beat him at Va States every year!
