I think a much more natural and appropriate forum for mass exposure to Disc Golf would be the X-Games. Disc Golf is an alternative sport for now, and I think the X-Games mindset is also more closely aligned with the culture of our players and sport. Further, in an X-Games like setting, additional skills could be added with relative ease, like long distance drives, etc.

Exactly !!!
The last time golf was part of the world's premiere sporting event was in 1904, when the United States and Canada were the only competing nations. Today, 60 million people play golf in more than 120 countries, with representation from around world on the rosters of professional players. Based on the proposed eligibility guidelines and today's rankings, at least 30 countries would be represented in both the men's and women's competition. Players would compete in 72-hole individual stroke play -- the same format used in golf's major championships "news article"

How does a sport become Olympic?

To make it onto the Olympic programme, a sport first has to be recognised: it must be administered by an International Federation which ensures that the sport's activities follow the Olympic Charter. If it is widely practised around the world and meets a number of criteria established by the IOC session, a recognised sport may be added to the Olympic programme on the recommendation of the IOC's Olympic Programme Commission.

To be included in the summer games, disc golf would have to be recognized as being practiced in 75 countries.

Can we claim 75 countries?

Other than that, we have what it takes.
But like someone said previously, another sport would have to be dropped.
Disc golf in the X-Games, now that's a great idea. Do you think they would see it as an "Extreme Sport"?
signed it. disc golf is the future its a "green" sport
X-Games real good idea ....... make it extreme by playing it with moving targets oncourse ..... each hole could have 3 or 4 dogwalking poopers scoopers and 6yr old bmx bikers crossing the the fairways with points awarded for knockdowns ..... sxtreme it up
I say that Disc Golf should be added to the winter Olympics. After all, we play in the winter. Anyway, would you rather watch ice dancing or someone bomb one 600 feet down a snow covered mountainside? That's an easy choice!
Looks like tough competition from another new event that also involves a pole... http://www.aolnews.com/sports/article/the-thrill-of-victory-pole-da...
CNN reported on Tuesday that someone was trying to get POLE Dancing as an olympic sport..Yes,that POLE dancing.Probably will be featuered as an "Exercise Routine" for the summer olympics 2012.Wonder how one becomes the coach for P.E.R.T.(pole exercise routine training)Costuming should be entertaining
