The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Here's the latest from the studios of Disc Golf Live video magazine, bringing DG to TV one community at a time...

Episode 27 of Disc Golf Live video magazine is in the hands of our broadcast partners and public access station programming managers across the country. As always, DVD copies of DGL are FREE for those who wish to submit the show to their local access station for broadcast. There are hundreds of public access channels across the US and at most all it takes is a local resident to submit the program, a little paperwork and a few minutes of legwork. Prominent locations where someone has yet to step forward include Seattle, New Orleans, and San Francisco. Of course, we welcome stations of all sizes. Every community should have some DG on TV. Check www.discgolflive.com for more information.

This episode, titled “North and South,” is centered in the Carolinas, with a side-trip to Georgia along the way. From Raleigh comes Kris Henseler’s piece on the North Carolina Flying Disc Championships, and from Rock Hill comes a sampling of Billy Crump’s Clash @ Winthrop Gold DVD. And Johnny B checks in with a tale highlighting the third and latest course at the International Disc Golf Center in Georgia. Book-ending these goodies is our own coverage of the putting finals at the ‘08 United States Disc Golf Championship. Thanks to Innova, the ’09 Memorial, and the PDGA for supporting DGL.

We’re already at work on our next episode, including some of the action from ’08 Vibram Open. If you’ve got something you’d like to share with our community, let me know. DGL is a great way to promote your local club, courses, personalities, and events. DGL is also available for home delivery and in wholesale quantities for player packages, CTPs, and retail sales.

I've got a contributor in Lafayette, LA, and get footage from there occasionally.

New Orleans has a station and I've even heard from a few folks in the area, but no one has had the follow-through it takes.

Looks like broadcasts will begin soon in Grand Rapids, MI. A few other irons in the fire as well.

I do not live in New Orleans, but have played at LaFranere Park (sp). If someone could film the Pot O Gold tournament there in mid March '09 that would be cool. A very nice course layout.

I heard from a fellow in the GR area a few weeks ago and he'd already made some connections locally. I sent him a couple of shows and I'll post when I learn more. It usually takes a few weeks or longer to get a show in a programming schedule, but a lot depends on the station and their policies.

One of the stations that recently began carrying DGL as part of their broadcast line-up also provides streaming. There are some archived DGL pieces at the site. Here's a link:

Some are labeled "South Shore Morning Show," so look for those as well. Everything is sort of randomly cut, so some chunks start out mid-story. Oh well!

I pasted a clip in the video section as well.

As always, happy to get my shows to folks who have a local community access station. Contact your station for details about what you'll need to do on your end then let me know and I'll get some shows to you.

And for folks interested in sharing their own creation with viewers across the country, let me know what story you have to tell. We're always looking for new voices to add to the mix.

Best regards to all,

Joe
Got the discs, submitting them today or tomorrow. Glad to have DG on TV in MP.

Excellent news, Jon. I hope you give them a view before you pass them over. No sense having to wait on the station. Feel free to make a back up for yourself as well. Always good to have spares!

I think your station reaches three counties or so, another nice addition to the viewing area.

Keep me posted.

Joe
