Most of the people I meet on the coarse are the type mention. A lot of us have longish hair, partake in an adult bev, smoke on a-smoke-. For the most part we all have multi hobbies. I've started as nothing but a guitar player(15) that moved into making tons of music on my own in many ways.
Now, to many disappointments have slowed on music and moved MORE into golf. the dream is to be paid to play. Everyone has that goal. I have HIGH HOPES.
Disc or Band, Whichever or Both
I have been playing the drums for 10+ years and have been in a couple bands that didn't get anywhere. Lately I find myself more concerned with the flight rating of cymbals and drumheads rather than actually hitting them with sticks. As of now I just do random home recordings using Cubase and jam with a few friends a couple times a month.
I'm always amazed at the number of talented, creative people who play disc golf: Musicians, other artists, writers, techies, craftsmen, folks who work with wood, stone, and glass - it's one of the many pleasures of being involved with the sport.
I know quite a few talented guys also who do a little jamming. Music is a good meeting point for folks of different points of view. I've used some of the jams my pals recorded in my show. Any of you other folks who have some tunes, I'm always looking for music to use as background etc in Disc Golf Live video magazine. Instrumental works best but stuff with vox can work as well.

I think it's just as simple as this sport attracts a certain laid back, creative-minded, artisticly open kind of person. I've only recently picked up guitar, been playing for only 7 months, but that started right around the time I started getting more serious about disc golf. For years I've written, and painted as a hobby, and my hope is to someday be a published writer. I tye dye. And a lot the people I meet are into the same things. Disc golf just isn't for hardcore jocks I think, man. :)
The Trigger Finger ROCKS

I think a lot of us could be classified as right brained, and that similarity could be the link. I know that were all different but obviously were alike enough to love the same sport, and most of us music as well. The guys that I started playing disc golf with were friends that I had for years and one day found out that they played disc golf, at that point I had no idea what it was but knew if they thought it was cool and fun that I would love it. These are the same guys that I played in bands with and spent most of my time hanging out with. From what I know from the them and the vast majority of people I have meet at disc golf courses I think that it is safe to say that we are a very creative and eclectic bunch that tend to live in the right brain(maybe not all of us but quite a few). Think of how many people you know from disc golf that fit into this definition; excels in visual, spatial, perceptual, and intuitive information, sound like any one you've hucked with? I guess for some reason this sport is appealing to our personality type, cant imagine why. LOL
Depending on my diet for the day...I enjoy playing disc golf (mostly alone) when I have alot of gas in my system. I belch and fart freely "making my own music" from hole to hole (pardon the pun). Plus I feel kinda euphoric after 18 as well. Disc golf really loosens up my bowels. Hmmmm...I wonder if this should have been in another forum? Anyway...that's how I make music other than whistling that is.
K.
I play bass in a 7 piece band that plays horn fueled pop rock. I've actually met disc golfers at our music scene, and seen people from the scene on the course. You can check out my band at myspace.com/amustache4u.
