Discmania FD (Jackal) Redux.

Now that the Jackal has been out for a while and those that have bought them have had some time to throw them, I wonder what you think. Do you like the flight? What type of shots? What color and weight? Do you like the stamp? Etc.

 

I was lucky enough to get part of a day with this disc before it came out. It felt like a really domey leopard and flew like a TL with a bit less HSS and a TON of glide.

 

I have since purchased a 173g Orange one with a gold stamp. The production model is exactly like the proto, lots of dome and glide. I like it for dead straight 280-325' shots, especially when there is low ceiling. It will get out to 400+, but I have other drives I like better for bigger distances. There is some overlap with my Lat64 Opto River, but the FD has a bit more LSS. A plus for me, even though I'm backhand dominant, the FD has a sweet forehand release.

 

The artwork on the disc is horrible, it looks like a cat hacking up a furball. JMO

 

So far its in the bag and I have about 40 rounds with it.

love this disc,like mine flat as possible and anywhere from the mid 160's to max weight.pairs up nicely with the craze.

Love your disc recommendations but this one sounds too similar to the river which I already have in my bag.

I want to love it, but I just keep going back to Leopards. I carry three Leopards and the Jackal overlaps too much with my stable one (white star, max weight). True, the Jackal might have a touch more LSS and a sprinkle more speed, but in the end it is not enough of a difference for me to carry it.

I think if it weren't for the glide, I might pass on the FD in favor of the Leopard. The Leopard is a good match with the River for added LSS that the River doesn't have.

 

This may all be mute once Lat64 comes out with their new more stable fairway driver here real soon. :)

Ohhhhh Christian, there is limited info, but Tompa said he has thrown it, and to save your cash cuz it's gonna be sweet. I am so frickin stoked for this disc to come out.

I jinxed myself by writing that post. I lost my stable Leopard today and the only disc I have on hand to replace it is the FD. I never really got into the River. I remember it being VERY glidey, but I tried it a year ago and my swing has completely changed. I might have to look into this...

Yes, the goldline river has great glide. I wouldnt replace my leopard w it though.... I throw both using my river for tighter shots where i need a nice straight finish or smooth anhyzer turn.
