The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf
Club Kensington is proud to announce a free Discraft Pro Clinic open to all players.
The teaching staff is still being assembled but already the reigning Michigan State Champions in Open, Masters and Grand Masters are signed on. The emphasis of this clinic will be long distance power driving.
The Clinic will begin immediately following the Sunday League (open to all players and starting at 10:30am, $5 random draw doubles), so roughly about 1 pm. Please join us for a memorable Disc Golf experience, with prizes sponsored by Discraft.
How close is Milford to Pontiac?
downtown Pontiac to downtown Milford is 17.76 miles.
I need to retire earlier just to attend your clinics Mark.
An update on the Discraft Clinic on Sunday, May 20th (about 1pm, following League Dbls) and hosted by Club Kensington: Disc Golf Live will be joining us to video the event and publish it. This Clinic focuses on long distance driving and we have a host of instructors to demonstrate and provide one-on-one instruction.
Confirmed on the teaching staff are Jamie Mosier, Jeremy Swan, Andrew Prytulski (all current Michigan State Champs in their respective divisions), Mike Henry, Mitch Winters, Peter Wyngaard, Jon Kind, Bob Julio and Dave Dirmeyer.
The Clinic is free and you might win prizes from Discraft.
Awesome stuff Mark!
The Clinic is this Sunday at Kensington Metropark in Milford, Michigan, following the Sunday Disc Golf League (League starts at 10:30am, so clinic should begin about 1pm or so).
All players are invited to play league ($5.00 buy in, $2.00 optional ace pool, random draw doubles) and/or attend the Discraft Long Distance Driving Clinic, sponsored by Play It Again Sports.
DIRECTIONS to Kensington Metropark: For GPS users the park office address is 2240 W. Buno Rd., Milford MI 48380
The park is directly off I-96 expressway (about 5 miles east of I-23 or about 15 miles west of I-275). Exit at KENT LAKE Road (do not take the Kensington Road exit), head North into the park. From the park entrance booth the Disc Golf Course is one half mile away, first parking lot on the right.
The Clinic IS NOT at the disc golf course, it is at the Toboggan Run (yes, site of the famed Toboggan Course but the course is not yet installed). We will be throwing straight UP the Toboggan Run. Excepting crazy shanks it should be easy to find your discs and follow their full flights. We have numerous big arm instructors who will perform a Long Distance Driving Contest so you can watch them perform under pressure and break down their throws, whether good or bad. Then there will be personalized instruction as you throw drives.
DIRECTIONS to the bottom of the Toboggan Run from the disc golf course: Continue into the park (away from the Kent Lake Road entrance, or a right turn out of the disc golf parking lot) and follow the park road around the lake (bearing left) for 3 miles to the Spring Hill Picnic Area parking lot ( which is right across the street from the base of the Toboggan Run). There is one tricky part to getting Spring Hill parking lot. After passing the Farm Center and the Park Office, pass the Buno Rd turnoff and you will come to a fork in the road at a stop sign. Take the right fork. There is a small sign for Spring Hill. 7/10 of a mile later you will see the Toboggan run on your left and Spring Hill on your right.
The Clinic is free with prizes supplied by Discraft and Play It Again Sports. The daily park entrance fee is $5.00 per car. If you want to play the Disc Golf Course there is a $2.00 daily fee.
