People yell fore so much at our course that I really don't bother to look anymore. I figure if I take a disc to the face then so be it. One time I turned around and used my throwing hand to block a disc the day before a tourney. Probably not a good choice. People yell fore so much at our course that I've taken to yelling things back like "Square root of 16" or the perennial favorite "Three plus one". Can't tell I was a Math major in college, huh.

I always figure that it's better to take a disc in the back of the head instead of the face. It's always annoying when you get that one group that yells "fore" every time they tee off. I always try to add a bit of info like "Heads up on 16 tee - Incoming".

ok i read this to
I duck!
Depends on loud the group is, by me the louder it is the more i worry, and no i dont turn around will duck and cover but not turn around. would rather take a disc the back then one to the face
I kinda keep a bit of an eye on other players anyways, nice to knwo where people are and where disc's might be coming from, but as was already said... if they are saying it all crazy like... it's too late... and if they have said it twice... it's really to late! that means it's more then twice as close as the first time!!!

Most of the time if I have no idea where the disc is... i put my hands over my head.try to block it from any hits!
duck first, look second
Duck and cover!
The first time I really felt it necessary to yell fore,as my R-Pro Boss approached a small group of golfers about 175' down course, one gentleman tuned to see what the ruckus was about and was hit in the face with my disc. It hit him in the "smile line" slighly above and right of the corner of his mouth. It hit him, dropped him to his knee's and put a gash completely through his face, right above his gumline. 1/2 inch lower and he would have lost teeth. 1/2 inch higher, possibly a broken cheekbone. He was asking if it cut him, through a mouth of bloody teeth. It cut thru into his mouth and split his upper gums. 3 stitches and a whole lotta worries. Turns out he was on blood thinner and they had a real hard time getting the bleeding to stop. I now have a severe "Victims Downrange" phobia and no longer yell the word "Fore". "LOOK THE F*CK OUT!!!" usually makes people drop, instead of turn. So if your golfing in Portland OR and hear the 4 words of Doom...Dont turn around..just hit the deck.
You never want to turn around. Taking one to the back of the head is bad enough but better than the alternative.
