The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

I've been playing for a few months and each game I seem to improve a little here and there. However, the one problem I seem to have EVERY SINGLE GAME, is that my distance drives are always too high. No matter what I've tried so far, I always finish with my back leg bent, chest pointing up and the disc simply wasting energy going up, when it could just go straight.

Anyone else have this same issue? Or have any suggestions?

I'm thinking I should try to start from scratch and try driving without even stepping and work my way up again but I'm open to any and all tips.

Thanks!!

I had a similar issue earlier this year, a couple of the local pro's told me to cock my wrist back as far as it would go, keep it there through the pullback and release, pull straight through across my chest. 1st time I tried it I ripped about 320' into a 15mph headwind, the disc never got more than 10-12' off the ground.

Good advice from Dookville.Three step walk up to drive helped my driving distance, just don't try to overpowrer your throw.

Without seeing your throw it's hard to say. One common thing I've noticed with newcomers is the other arm. Rhbh throwing people tend to throw under their left arm. Basically your left arm up about chest high with your hand over your right peck your right arm underneath in your wind up. I hope that made sense. Basically what I'm getting at is to keep your non throwing arm out of the way have it down at your side so your not throwing under your arm. Pull straight across your chest.
Look up the discraft pro clinics on you tube.

step to the left with your last step if you throw rhbh

X-step and straight pull through.
