The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

The other day, my wife and I had and argument and she stated that playing disc golf 3 times in a week is excessive. WHAT?! I defended myself with," it's inexpensive, fun and I'm outside getting exercise. I'm not spending money at a casino, downloading porn, playing an online game for hours or taking part in any other self destructing behavior. So what's the problem?"
To make a long story short, I didn't win the argument.
Anyone else have this problem with your significant other or family member?

take care of your work[making $] and domestic stuff. i do some kind of disc thing almost everyday.
All the advice on here is great. But in my case, none of that has worked. Disc golf is my wife's worst enemy. Now I have come to the point that I just don't tell her what I am doing. I'm just going out with my buddies. If she asks what we will be doing, I just say I don't know yet. You want to be honest with your significant other, but you can't give up and not play as much. I need three rounds a week just to stay at the level of play I want to be at. If all else fails, LIE by ommision.

i live my life by your last sentence!
Encourage her to get a hobby or find a close friend or two. She would treat bowling or softball or anything that reminds her that she has no life the same way.

You tell her it keeps you out the bars ,and ask her if she knows how much a Heart attack costs and how much time you will be out of the home then which if you just sit at home and complain will most likely lead to one .Then go over to her purse AND GET YOUR NUTS OUT get your bag and go play a round .Womans need a pack leader she will respect your manlyness O yeah tell her to do house work tell you get back .I understand there is two sides to a story and you could still be doing all those other thing you said too ..OK HAVE FUN

.............? wow...
You guys are harsh...
This is 2008, you have to negotiate a middle ground, compromise, just a little. That will go over a little better then telling her to get a life...come on.
Just pop a roofie or a couple of sleping pills in her drinks before you want to go play. =)
after all this I still think you should find a disc golf chick! haaa!
Thanks guys, for reminding me why I'm so happy being single. My ex GF confronted me with the fact that I love disc golf and my dog more than her. After thinking about it, I realized that neither of them ever give me any grief.
Is giving up your body for the sport excessive?

Yesterday I was playing with Eirik and Jeff the Farrier (that may not mean what you think it means). Eirik found his lie right next to a brick wall which should have prevented him from trying to follow through on his shot. But, of course, our Dojo Boy Eirik ripped a shot and smashed his arm/wrist/hand into the wall. It appeared to me the wall was victorious in that battle. Well, at least the wall didn't scream out and bleed.

So soon thereafter, the recent lesson in pain notwithstanding, Eirik found himself with a lie with no real run up due to overhanging branches behind the disc roughly head high. Certainly no rational person would sacrifice their face just to throw a slightly better upshot, right? Right but we are talking about Eirik here and he did the full barrel through the branches with his melon upshot.

Does Eirik deserve accolades or sympathy or scorn? What would you have done? I guess most relevantly, was it excessive?
No way is that excessive... put it on the line for good shots .... Go Eirik! :))
