First tournament

first ill start by saying i live in south lyon michigan, ive been discing for 6 years now and ready to make a step up and play against more skill. i would like someone opinion on, should play my first tournament at a fimilar course or maybe a course ive never played, i was also thinking doing some doubles? if those are rated.should i enter as am3 or 4. ive placed well in many weekly doubles at my home course. id rather not travel to far as well, if any of you would know of an event in my area. that would be helpful as well. any information on the subject would be great. thanks for reading. -Greg

have there been any events at your local course within the past year or so? look them up on the pdga tournament pages. see how you would have ended up. then decide which division to play in. then start playing your rating for a little while to get used to tournament play. then do as you see fit.
