The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf
I'm going back east tomorrow and wanted to take some discs with me on the plane. Stupid question, has anyone had issues with security or anything when traveling with discs?

They can open your bag if they need to and if they ask you why you need so many " Frisbees' " , again tell them you are a tournament player. No Problems for the last 14 years.
Permalink Reply by Norm Cole on March 7, 2012 at 5:54pm Donny, thanks for the info! I actually had this thought the other day. I am out in Phoenix at a conference and just in case I can get away I put one disk in my bag. But, what is the largest bag of discs you have taken on a flight? Have any of the TSA peeps actually given you a hard time about the bag? Cheers!
Permalink Reply by Colin on March 7, 2012 at 8:24pm They have the max size carry-on form right where you pick up your tickets. Although in past experience this only applies to rollers. You can carry-on a backpack or disc bag as large as you want and as heavy as you can carry. As long as you can ram it in the over head or kick it under the seat in front of you.

Hey JP, I work for TSA and you should not have any problems. I see Disc Golfer alot going through my Aiport here at Minot, ND. We just look at your bag and then give it back to you. If you have any more question, just give me a shout. Have fun and good luck. Oh, just one more thing. Always carry your Disc onto the plane.
Permalink Reply by Peter Bonnel on March 8, 2012 at 6:03pm I have flown many time with my discs. I always take my disc golf bag as a carry on. Take any extras (towels, tags, etc) off and store in the bag. Just be ready to tell them that those are golf disc because you will have the bag inspected.
