We have a pretty good point scoring system in place, but was wondering how you guys determine league winners for your clubs?  We keep running into the issue of a guy who wins or places in the top 3 for every mini for 8 weeks losing to a guy who placed worse in each of those minis, but played 12 weeks, so he has more points.  You do a playoff or points averaging with minimum # of weeks required?

Thanks ahead for your help.

We take the best 8 scores out of the 12 weeks of the league. This allows players to miss weeks and not get punished (unless they miss more than 4 weeks).

We use total aggregate scores to determine who finishes in the money. We have 5 total divisions - Open, Intermediate, Beginner, Women's, and Junior. No point system, just your scores.
I agree with how this is done. This is a somewhat similar system that a lot of sports statistics are based on.

The other option would be to take the average of all the games they were present for and use that. I'm sure you'll get arguments on how that ins't fair and that there should be a minimum amount of games...which leads us to Tom's reply.
that's it, just two ppl out of all the ppl on this site?? c'mon, need to hear mo, mo, mo!! (with billy idol harmony).
Whoever shows up with the most beer at the end of the year wins!
Why not give something to the guy who shows up the most and something else to the guy who wins all the time....

The way I see if i went to league every night and got beat by some local pro that only shows up to make a few bucks, I would be a little ticked. Now if it was a handicapped league it would be a different story.

Ams keep the sport growing...just my opinion
We use handicaps at our league so it is fair regardless if someone throws 6 under or shoots near 100.
