Please help!

I've done a ton of spin dyeing lately. Some times the colors come out real dark and other times they are very dull. I've added corn syrup to my dye and acetone mix to thicken it up and allow it to set longer before drying out. I think todays dyes may have just dried too quickly. Can anyone tell me how to get real dark pretty colors?
