The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

so there are a few things I don't understand yet. I am aware of the rules pretty good but how do you get points and a handicap in Disc Golf? I have played 2 tourneys in my life so I am not sure that is even enough to have any kind of rating on my game. Just kinda wondering where my game stacks up for a newbie that has only played for 5 months. TIA

The first thing you need to do to get a rating is join the PDGA. You can do so at http://www.pdga.com/join. In order to get points and a rating you need to play in santioned events. Your scores will be rated compared to the other players that participate in the event. You can see what events in your area are sanctioned by searching here http://www.pdga.com/tour-schedule. I hope to see you out there on the links sometime.
Starting from scratch takes time and practice. Those PDGA links will help you understand more. Remember ......................................Once you get Really Good , always find time to have Fun in your game !!!!!!!!

Thanks man. I signed up and I will try to get to some of the events. I am playing with the Southern Nationals right now. I love the sport and I guess with the right dedication I could be good at it in a few years. One last question. When I was reading the tour dates I noticed the letter A beside some of the events and the letters XC beside others. What does that mean? TIA
think your talking about an A tier event, they are rated A,B ,C ect.. depending on how big/popular the tourney is, the more, the better it will be for you if you do good in it... I may be wrong
I am old to disc golf and absolutely love it (of course)...

They way to find out how you stack up is to jump headfirst into tournaments. Win or lose, the process is compelling.

I did Mr. Ellis. By the way your putting seminiar on Youtube has helped me out tremendously. I skipped the novice division for my first tourny and won myself a 7 dollar first run kite. LOL Gotta start somewhere I guess.
Congrats! You cashed, baby! Nice job.

I've tried cashing and donating and all things considered I prefer cashing....

This document tells a little bit about the PDGA Tier Guidelines, Points and Division breaks based on ratings.
