Innova Dart: Star or R-Pro?

I'm thinking about snaggin a dart, but i'm not sure which plastic to get. i currently have a glow aviar as my go to putter and use a heavier star aviar for downhillers, but i find it to be less stable for my style of putting.

what are your preferences?

i know you don't know anything about me, but what do you recommend? Any other suggestions?

I have been putting with the R-Pto Dart for about 3 months now and it is the best thing to ever happen to my game. I prefer the grippyness and stickyness of the R-Pro plastic. I am thinking of getting the Star Dart for driving, but am waiting to see how my new Mako does when it gets here Monday.

Interesting comment: I have an R-Pro Dart, and have been using it since it first came out, which I think was in April of 09. I recently bought a Star Dart, and it's fine, too, although the plastic isn't quite as grippy as my R-Pro. Like Ben, I use the Star Dart for longer shots or better baskets (some baskets on courses I play reject putters--single chains--and I use my R-Pro for them). I also have had a Mako for a while, and its base is the same as the Dart, or so it looks to me. In the air they seem to behave sort of the same except the Mako has more range. For a putter, the Dart really gets out there, though.

The Mako holds whatever line it's released at, which also works against me a bit. If I want it to go straight, I have to throw it perfectly flat; otherwise it'll go to one side or the other. But it's a great annie disc for shorter shots. (For me, anyway.)

If your not partial to innova and you are looking for more stability in your putter try a Gateway Warlock, they have to the same feel yet are more stable. My go to is a glow warlock which is a stiffer plastic and I use a newer Super Stupid Soft for upshots that need to stay straight and finish slightly left.

Just my two cents and this is coming from someone who lived by the aviar tell I found one of these.

i'll give it some thought, thanks for the input. i am an innova guy btw, but that glow warlock sounds mighty nice. do these have the same diameter as the aviar?

I have to agree with ric roc ,i have a pro r dart it has a nice grippy texture but i have tried the gateway putters (wizard ,warlock )and they are very straight putters .my dart has a noticeable fade at the end

well i don't really need a bead. i'd like to make it to the basket on longer putts without it skipping too far by. i'm also thinking about an xd. i like my aviar for short ones but the longer ones i have trouble making it there all the time. i like the straight flight too

It's just the ability to use the same disc putting and driving that makes it so damn consistent to use a KC Aviar.

Plus with the bead you can drive the suckers pretty damn far and get any line you want just like a regular aviar.

I liked the r pro dart at first but now I cant use it. Its not stiff enough for longer throws and I cant use it to jump putt

If you are set on buying a Dart. I like the R-Pro plastic better, but I like my putters tacky. I've had a BB Aviar in Star plastic and it would always slip in my hand. Now if you are just looking for an overstable putter. The JK Pro Aviar-X would be my first choice. Others in no particular order would be.. The Pig (IMO THE most overstable putter I've tried), Wizard (most common) Rhyno, Voodoo, Warlock, Challenger. Thats a few that I'm comfortable with, but to me the JK is the best. Having said that. Of all the discs out there. IMO the putter is the tuffest to reccomend to some body.

i like my R-Pro, its super straight as i usually have a nasty hook on most of my shots no matter what i do to change my throw. but my R-Pro listens to my brain.
