When am i going to see an increase in the rate of new discs coming out? It seems like its been forever that the Katana has been their newest disc. Every site i go on says their newest disc is one that came out years ago. More discs more fun!
There are already alot of discs out there and i think that its to the point that if you cant find what your looking for then you havent thrown enough discs. There are so many different discs to throw so many different shots. I think most people my self included would rather see discs produced in more types of plastic instead of an entirely new mold.
If you have found what your looking for, throwing so many discs, thats great! But i think most people, including myself, would be more than appreciative of Innova coming out with new discs. The growth of the sport depends on companys such as innova, discraft, gateway, and hero, to broaden their ideas and bring as much to the table that they can. Do not be confused, our discs now are great.
My "newest" disc last year was a Sidewinder and that isn't a very new disc at all. I bought the Star Katana when it came out only to be disappointed with the flat top disc that wasn't like the Lemon Lake at all. A couple of weeks ago I bought a Lemon Lake from Ben Calhoun. I am very happy with that disc and I nearly got an ace with it yesterday. Gave the other Star Katana to a friend. Maybe if I had more time and money I would experiment with some more discs but I am fairly old school anyway.
I just bought a Flow-gold (170g) and a Halo-gold (173g). The Flow has very good glide with little fade. A very accurate disc for my arm strength. I find it similar to an Orc or Wraith. The Halo is just a bit too over stable for my arm strength. It has considerable fade at the end of flight. I find it similar to my Boss-star and Katana. Both are great discs and the plastic shows no sign of impact after smacking trees at high velocity just a few feet off the tee box.
My maximum distance ever was 340' with a wraith. My average distance is 280'. My arm strength and throwing style is better suited to the Flow as opposed to the Halo. Bigger arms might prefer the Halo.
