Is Ace Race Disc Legal?

I'm the happy owner of a second hand 2004 Ace Race disc. I had no idea what it was or whether it was any good when I bought it from the 2nd hand bin at PIAS. It turned out to be a Z Glide and glide it does. It has earned a place in my bag. The Z Glide is PDGA approved, but at the time of manufacture Ace Race discs are not. Are Ace Race discs which are subsequently approved by PDGA for tournament play grandfathered under the approval?  Does anyone know or should I have to check with the TD at each tournament?

I was told as ong as the disc did become a pdga approved disc later, then the ace race discs were approved for PDGA play. You might can check with Discraft or e-mail Mark Ellis on here.

Every Ace Race disc is approved. You should have no trouble using it at a tournament.

Not to steal any glory here but are custom dyed discs legal in a PDGA event as long as that particular disc is and you can still tell what kind of disc it is?

yep any disc is legal as long as its approved, has not had the flight plain changed, and has not changed the wieght

Even if you cannot see any stamp, and has no markings on the disc it is pretty rare that there are any non PDGA approved disc golf discs out there. It would be pretty obvious if the disc looked like it is a beach/catch disc from meijer, or a Ninja.

Glides are pretty amazing. A completely apt name. You're good to throw it. Prototypes are approved once the the mold is approved. If they made changes from the prototype, then no, but I think you're good in this case.
