Lansing, MI Discers, Capitol City Challenge? Anyone?

I'm thinking about travelling to play in this on the 18th I believe in Lansing. Will it be worth it? Info on the type of course would be great. This will be my first tourney as a PDGA member. When does it start? Any info would be great. Thanks.

I just played 2 rounds out there today. The woods has a good mix of holes, hyzer and anhyzer. It is a pretty tough course usually. The registration is 830-930. players meeting about 945 and tee of right around 10. if theres anything else you want to know, just pm and i can help ya out. i'm a local and play there a few times a week.

There are a couple holes that are close to unplayable right now. I dont believe holes 5 and 6 will be played because of how high the pond level is right now. We should be putting the 2 baskets on the road leading from hole 5's tee pad to hole 7's tee pad. But other than that, the rest of the holes are playable.

Thanks. I'm just not sure I'll be able to make it there in time for a practice round. Plus my back is doing a number on me lately and usually spasms after two full rounds anyways. So...I'm in. Thanks for all the help. I'll probably make it. Appreciate the help guys.

CCR events are generally well run and well attended. Grand Woods Park is a fine disc golf course with plenty of challenges and danger. In Springtime the park can have holes which are flooded out and there is a river and a pond which can come in play at any time of the year. Bring risk discs or a snorkel.

Grand Woods is tricky enough that it is worthwhile to play it before the tournament. If you are not familiar with playing under PDGA rules it would also be helpful to play a round or two with tournament veterans and ask them to show you the ropes. It is difficult to adapt to the pressure of a tournament without also trying to learn stance rules, etc.

My comments are not meant to discourage you from playing. Come on up north and give it your best shot.
