The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Former WWE Superstar  has taken up Disc golf as one of his main hobbies out side of the ring, below is part 2 of a interview he resently did on wwe "where are they now" blog

A long career in WWE between 1992 and 2001 saw Wright become immensely popular amongst the WWE Universe and, thanks in part to that popularity, he held both the coveted Intercontinental Title as well as the World Tag Team Titles before parting ways with the company.

Back in Las Vegas, the former Godfather has found success returning to the business he worked in before becoming a ring warrior, managing several nightclubs located in and around Sin City. (PHOTOS)

“I was offered a position in 1984 and it has all stemmed from there,” Wright stated. “Now, I’m running a night club called Cheetahs in Las Vegas, as well as some other clubs not in the city.”

With much appreciation for his career, Wright has come to enjoy his post-WWE lifestyle as well. Aside from the less rigorous travel schedule, he has come to enjoy the opportunity to spend more time with his family.

“I’m the happiest and most content I’ve ever been in my life,” Wright admitted. “I’m out here spending time with my family after missing so much time watching them grow up while on the road. I have a six year-old boy now who I can still have my time with.”

With the extra free time, the opportunity to try new things and pick up new hobbies arises. But Wright’s two main hobbies might seem like an odd pairing to most.

“I spend most of my time outside of work doing desert motorcycle riding and I play disc golf,” said the former Supreme Fighting Machine.

Though motorcycles seem like a fit for Wright, some might be surprised by his passion for disc golf – a form of golf replacing the clubs and balls with discs and the hole with a basket.

“My brother-in-law was trying to get me to do it, but I’d tell him I wouldn’t want to play that hippie sport,” Wright laughed. “But one day at a barbecue in the park, there was a disc golf course and he bought me some discs. I started throwing them and I was throwing well. I just continued with it.”

In just the year he’s been playing, the former Kama Mustafa has gone from being a member of the Nation of Domination to dominating the up-and-coming sport.

“Now I’m getting real good. I can throw my driver more than 450 feet, 150 longer than a football field,” he said. “I play out-of-bounds and by the rules of regular golf, and I shoot on average about two or three under par on the best courses.”

Although he’s not on the road as much as he was when he was a WWE Superstar, Wright still does some traveling, and when he does, he looks for the opportunity to continue his hobby.

“I’ve played in Australia, I’ve played at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, I’ve played in San Jose, I’ve played in Utah,” he said. “Every place I go I take my discs with me.”

Enjoying life is all that matters, and Charles Wright – reflective of his time in the squared circle – is doing just that.

“Things have worked out very well for me,” Wright stated. “I spend time with my family, I ride my dirt bike, play disc golf, get in the gym when I can and just enjoy it all.”

But even though he is enjoying his life after WWE, that doesn’t mean he has forgotten the WWE Universe and all his fans.

As a parting message to the WWE Universe, Wright stated, “I appreciate all of [the WWE fans] for the great times and I thank them for their support over all the years.”
