The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Clearly hole design is the easiest way to make your disc golf course unique.  But what else can you do to really make your disc golf course memorable, fun, and challenging?

Some things I've seen -

- interesting barriers/obstacles (farm equipment, hay bails, boulders)
- raised and sunken baskets
- gravel fairways, woodchip greens
- big, informative, eye-catching signs

give me your two cents.

Independence lake?
Here is one from my home course Dry Run Disc Golf Course in Mitchell, SD.
273 ft in Disctane - the teepad is marked in red
The pipe is about 140 feet down the fairway and is over 30 foot tall. My only Ace Race ace was 146ft from under the bridge.
This hole is a killer for left handers (LHBH and RHFH).
On the right hand side of the picture (left while throwing) is a small tree area. There actual fairway is about 40 feet wide at this point.
On the left hand side of the picture (right while throwing) is high brush with a (not so dry) creek.
This picture is an early spring picture. The grass on the creek side get huge and the trees get out of control.
And yes the pipeline was there before the disc gold course.

all great ideas. and hey, I wouldn't be opposed to throwing around a spinning blade of a windmill...
san diegos morley field also has two pyramids holes
there is a glow in the dark paint that is clear when applied. it stays charged overnight
Where can I find the paint Dane? What's it called? Thank you.
I have heard of the Morley field pyramid.

We just installed a position on one of our holes that is left into the trees and absolutely not visible from the tee. We posted a little sign on the tee with a picture so people have an idea where to throw. It has been birdied quite a few times already. I wasn't sure about it when we put it in but now I really like the challenge.
I think artificial OB is under embraced. 20 ft bunkers around the basket would be cool.... the "no gimmie" putt.
That would be insane. And it punishes people who have a good up shot and practice that all the time.
It rewards people with good drives, upshots and puts ...lol. 20 ft is not a huge putt...
How about the old 'Island Hole' @ White's Acres?
