Marking bogies and birdies on a Scorecard.....

Out west we California golfers only circle birdies when we mark our scorecards. No boxes on bogies.

I played yesterday in a group where one of the players was boxing bogies. This causes confusion with our system because we can mistake them for birdies.

How does everyone else mark their cards?

we use numbers, then circles for ob penalty strokes, circle 4 etc...

Ditto. Only thing getting rings is OB. any sort of OB.

Then maybe I won't feel so bad about that bogey because it has a circle around it. I earned it.

When I get asked my score and I went OB, I tell them "that's a 4 with jewelry"
