Ok! I have another destination question.

This upcoming weekend I will be in the Metro-Chicago area (Darien//Downer's Grove), and am looking for a course to play. I will only be there for a brief afternoon, so my time will probably only allow one round. It also means I probably can't drive much outside a half hour radius from where I'll be. When I look at course reviews for the area, many say things like "course is boring," "really flat/not challenging," "Chicagoland dg courses suck," etc.

Are there any relatively decent courses that folks have played there? Even if it's a 9 hole course that would be ok. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Joliet or NW Indiana are the only cool courses in the area...
It's worth the drive if you can make it to Lemon Lake, you'll get to see our four courses (site of the 2010 Pro Worlds). I wouldn't describe the park as flat or boring as we have old growth forest and ravines on our courses. If the hour plus drive is too much, consider West Park in Joliet. Its a very well established course on the site of an old zoo. Lots ups and downs and through the trees. It would probably save you 35-40 minutes on the drive. Good luck and have fun!
Go to the Highland Park course in Joliet for woods, ravines, challenges. Or Channahon for "country club atmosphere" and great holes. Really, there are a lot of good courses in the area! The Oaks at Mokena as well. I think those comments about boring usually refers to the two actually in Chicago (not worth it), and a few in the suburbs that are flat and open. Oh, there's an excellent 9-holer in Oak Brook; its where I usually go for a shorter day (coming from the city). Good luck!
Uh, here's a snap of #1 in Oak Brook from the fairway. My closest "worth it" course from the city.
