The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Looking ahead to the tour in 2009, Sheila and I wanted to let you know that we have decided that when we compete in a tournament we will both compete in the Am Grandmaster division, if possible. We figure that gives us the best opportunity to potentially play a tournament together on the same card each round.

It also means that if other local grandmasters step up and decide to play in that division this year, we can let TDs know that will be happening and they can plan on having that division on a regular basis.

And . . . it also means that if more than 4 of us show up at an event, then we will all have to play very well to ensure that Sheila doesn't beat us.

P.S. (from Sheila): hehe :)

Go Sheila.... and terry.. I'll be rooting for you both.
i'll join in when i can
I recently played in the Cracked Plastic where the TD opened up the Am Grandmaster division, because there was enough of us Seniors to play in it. Actually...six. I am now looking forward to the Lumberjack Open where I hope the same occurs there. Being 61 (and feeling somewhat weird playing in Rec.) I feel playing in Am.Grandmasters (or older) is my place to be although my tourney scores do not reflect experience. It is just a treat to be playing with individuals close to my age regardless of score. Thanks for posting this discussion.
I don't play a lot of tournaments, but if there is an Am Grandmaster division when I do, I'll play it.
Count me in I'll be playing that division this year
if the disc gods are willing ,
and the arm doesn't break,
I hope to see you in the GM
So said the spider to the flies.

Terry Calhoun is a two-time World Champion in Amateur Old Guy divisions. Nice of him to invite all of you out. Good luck. :)
We figure that since Sheila is likely to be donating, it kind of evens out ;-)

Sorry for the slight hijacking of thread but the MI Pro GMs have the same dilemma, having a hard time making a division. The Pro GMs should try to do the same although I won't be much help because I don't plan on playing many tournaments this year. However, I am planning on playing in State Finals so perhaps other Pro GMs would be interested in playing that and we could try putting together a good field.

Last year, we had Mark Ellis, JayBird, and Leonard Johnson in the Pro GM State Finals division, 3 legends of MI disc golf -- come on out, aspiring Pro GMs, and play State Finals.
And, JD, when I can I am glad to play Pro, especially to flesh out the division. The Am thing is just to be able to play with Sheila (and she also likes it because it's donating less money). You're not hijacking, it's all geezer stuff.
I'll give it a try..it beats playing with the 20 year olds!!!
count me in. I'll try and be aware of the next stop on your tour.
