OK, I am sensitive to the sun due to medications. I ware long pants, long sleeve shirts, and a hat at all times on the course. I just tried a shirt called Dri-Star. It wicks away the sweat and makes it cool in the shade or when a breeze might come up.
Has anyone else tried this type of shirt?

Permalink Reply by Disc Player Sports on July 9, 2012 at 3:12pm Having been in the apparel industry for years, as long as you are wearing any brand such as your "Dri-Star" is a name given by the company selling the shirt.
"Wicking" is not the material of the shirt but the ability to wick away sweat. Most brands do this. The garment has been chemically treated to create the wicking property.
Nike, dri-fit, Dri-Star by Starter, most are the same.... these shirts and pants are synthetic (made from oil).
But if you really want to try something different check into the UV shirts out there they supposedly block out UV (ultraviolet rays).
The wicking shirts do not block out the suns rays completely.
Also a big hat helps... This hat by Kavu is the "chilba" one of the few hats recommended by the American Skin Cancer Association. Do not need sunscreen with it. Like they say 'read your labels.'
I use this one on very hot and sunny days. Just stay away from those Vietnam veterans (with flashbacks)....
Permalink Reply by Scott Miller on July 12, 2012 at 4:48pm Thank you for the info. I have a straw hat that blocks the UV rays. I still ware sun screen due to the home course I play is right on the river. With the reflection off the water it is killer.
Also I pay under $8.00 a shirt for the Dri - Star shirts from Wally World. Yep I'm cheap.
Permalink Reply by Disc Player Sports on July 12, 2012 at 4:53pm You can find sales at different stores all the time, especially online.
Found $120 shoes for $70! Salomon Goretex for example. Teva shoes $35 normally over $100!
Pays to look around.
Clearance Rules.
Like the movie K-Mart sucks Ray.
Type online (search engine) what the product you are looking for and magically the items come up all different pricing......
